[INTRO]

Check it. Listen real close.

In the land of digital public service,

They try to tell you power lives in parliament, or paper cash, or backroom deals.

Nah. Power lives in the compiler.

Power lives in the syntax running on local silicone.

When the state runs the registers and funds the classroom floor,

Whoever controls the programming language holds the key to the door.

You don’t just write code—you write control.

And we came to claim the throne back!

[CHORUS]

In the land of public service, syntax is power!

We build our own logic in the late-night hour!

Not a customer renting from a Silicon tower,

COMAL in the classroom, local roots in flower!

Yeah—languages are power, take the kingdom back!

Public infrastructure on a grassroots track!

[VERSE]

Step back, Silicon Valley, check the ’75 roots

Tønder Statsseminarium in our winter boots!

Børge Christensen looked at BASIC, said: "This language is trash!"

Lined up with Benedict Løfstedt to make a better clash!

No corporate venture capital, no suits with a plan

Just a teacher and his students taking down the main man!

February seventy-five, the code was locked and live

High schooler Mogens Kjær catching bugs in your drive!

He wrote a letter from Lyngby, told the pros they were wrong

And he was right! That’s how we built this grassroots song.

You talk about "tech elite"? Man, we built it in the dark—

Soldiers on boring night shifts designing circuit boards for a spark!

Print boards for Commodores drawn between guard duties—

While you were chasing profit, we were chasing pure beauty!

[CHORUS]

In the land of public service, syntax is power!

We build our own logic in the late-night hour!

Not a customer renting from a Silicon tower,

COMAL in the classroom, local roots in flower!

Yeah—languages are power, take the kingdom back!

Public infrastructure on a grassroots track!

[VERSE]

We had Piccolinos in the classroom, state-funded and clean

Farum night school with my old man behind the green screen!

Public education, evening classes, father and son

Sitting side-by-side learning how the logic was run!

Not created by a market, not a subscription fee

Carried by institutions built for community!

And guess what? You needed us!

Commodore and IBM had to bow on the bus!

They couldn't sell a single rig to a Danish school door

Unless they ran COMAL-80 on their hardware floor!

Unicomal tried to monetize, brought the hype to a pitch

1982 to ’93, trying to make the market rich

Mainframe moguls leeching off a teacher's draft—

You couldn't build the culture, so you bought the craft!

[CHORUS]

In the land of public service, syntax is power!

We build our own logic in the late-night hour!

Not a customer renting from a Silicon tower,

COMAL in the classroom, local roots in flower!

Yeah—languages are power, take the kingdom back!

Public infrastructure on a grassroots track!

[VERSE]

Then 1996 hit—Datacentralen privatized!

"Market-driven IT policy" was heavily advertised!

You closed Regnecentralen, threw the Piccolinos away

And forced the whole society to rent and to pay!

COMAL-80 didn't fail on its logic or code

It died because the market couldn't bear the slow road!

A local, sustainable language built to educate

Smashed because it wouldn't generate a corporate rate!

Now look at ya: we’re just customers in somebody’s store

Paying monthly licenses while you lock up the door!

History rhymes, son! Hear the lesson I drop:

If you trust the free market, local power will stop!

Don't look to giant corps to build a digital home—

Reclaim the public equipment, and code on our own!

[OUTRO / HOOK]

Who controls the code controls the whole state!

We don't rent our future from a corporate syndicate!

From Tønder to the world, put the power in the hand:

Digital sovereignty across the whole land!

Syntax is power... reclaim the compiler.
