Softenings:

For several years, I have been working with an old grand piano, which I have softened in various ways by instigating encounters between soft and hard types of materials.

From 2nd April to 12th April, I will be exhibiting the provisionally final and very tangible softening of the piano – softening no. 8 – in which I have placed the various parts of the piano in jars – a kind of pickled piano – and a way in which the culturally embedded sediments of the piano are (possibly) softened.

During the exhibition period, it will be possible to see the many hundreds of jars containing the inner parts of the piano. Likewise, throughout the exhibition, I will be working on putting parts of the piano into jars – a kind of living workshop.
